Since my last post was full of complaining, I thought I should balance it by posting things I am thankful for.
1. Sunshine
2. My husband
3. My kids
4. My parents
5. My big sister, Dawn
6. All the rest of my family!
7. My friends - I have tons of friends all over the place, it's fun!
8. Good music
9. No nausea at this moment.
10. Creativity in my children (I have next to none, so always thrilled with theirs)
11. Good health for my kids
12. Springtime
13. Celebrating Lent - we do this and it really just helps me keep focused
14. Good books
15. E-mail!
16. Friends who e-mail me (hint hint)
17. My husband flying home today
18. Our babysitter, Faith - she currently comes over and plays with the boys 3 mornings a week - and she folded laundry for me yesterday - did I mention she's 14!
19. Coffee (which I really don't like right now, but will soon again)
20. Chocolate (ditto above)
21. Wine (which I shouldn't like right now, and probably don't, but haven't tried)
22. My oldest daughter's willingness to change poopy diapers!
23. Our house - it isn't huge or fancy and needs more closet space, but at least we have a home!
24. Our huge backyard
25. Lotion (strange, I know, but have you seen my dry, scaly skin?)
All right. There are 25 things. So, you're assignment? Blog your 25 things you are thankful for. Or just e-mail them to me if you don't have a blog. Or you can just think about them as you go about your day. It's easy to come up with 25 things. Maybe tomorrow we can do 25 more! :-)

Survival
My hubby is out of town for the next couple of days. This is nothing new. He has traveled quite a bit in most of his jobs. To some people it isn't much, but to others it is shocking. :-) He currently only travels 3 or 4 days a month. Which isn't great, but it isn't bad. He's had one job where he traveled less, but most jobs he has traveled more!
So, why is this called survival? Well, I think I'm just tired of the whole traveling thing! Combined with his wicked commute (55 miles one way around DC), he is gone from the house quite a bit. If you've forgotten, I'm pregnant with our 5th baby. And in my 1st trimester. Which just means that I am exhausted. And still very nauseated. All day. So, even when he is in town, not much is getting done around this house! When he's gone...even less. Let's see, it's 8:30 p.m. - my hair has not been brushed, neither have my teeth - all day. The kitchen is semi-clean. There are toys and books all over the family room. The table still needs to be cleaned off. The living room has toys all over the floor. I am getting some laundry done! (But it needed to be done 2 days ago.) Now, am I getting anything done? No. I'm sitting here, tv on (some stupid show too) and typing on my computer.
All right, enough complaining. I really didn't set out for this to be a complaining session. I really just wanted to explain that I am tired. :-) And totally unmotivated to accomplish much of anything!
I have an idea. Instead of complaining I'm going to tell you what I would really love to be doing instead! :-) I just wish we had a really nice, big bathtub (ours is disappointing - it has a straight back, you cannot lean back comfortably). I would take a hot bubble bath, drink a glass of wine and read a good book. Ahhh, doesn't that sound great?
Oh! A very cute thing our youngest has been saying. When he brings me a book to read, he says, "Oh! Love that." I think it is hilarious!
All right, not much else to tell you tonight. :-) Good night. Time to get some stuff done!

Finally, Some Pictures!
I finally took some pictures with my digital camera and even downloaded them. Wow. I must be bored today! Not! :-)
These were taken the other day while hiking with a friend and her son.

Look who got her ears pierced for her 7th birthday! She was thrilled and very very brave. Not a flinch, not a whimper, not a tear. Just big smiles!

Making a Fool of Myself
I am having such a great day today. NOT. My husband's 20th college reunion is coming up in April. Since we are 4 hours away, we are planning to attend. The plan is to have my Mom fly in town so we can go without kids. This will be our first weekend away without kids in 3 years. (Last time we did this, thanks Ranee, we got pregnant with #4 - this can't happen this time, since I'm already prego.) So, we finally booked our hotel the other night - over $300. Yuck. Plus the flight for my Mom - $200-250. So, today I get VMI's website to register for the reunion. Somehow, either operator error or computer error (I'm voting for computer error, but know it is more likely that the operator made an error), I thought the reunion was $500. ARE YOU NUTS? So, I went a little nuts. I immediately fired off an e-mail to two of my husband's college roommates. Something to the effect of "WHAT THE H***?". Then I talked to my sister-in-law. She said that maybe something was wrong with the website and I should check again, $500 just didn't make sense. So, I did. Guess what. The cost is $250 for a couple. Ahhh, that seems so much more reasonable than the other. Of course, still pricey, but whatever.
So, here is where I goofed big time. First, I mouthed off to his college roommates. Who probably already think I'm a huge idiot. But here is the real clincher. His roommates are Paul and Scott. So I type in Paul's name and Scott's name. Did I stop to check and see WHICH Scott I sent it to? NO. How many Scott's are in my address book? Oh, 4 maybe? (And his roommate isn't one of them apparently.) So, I sent this e-mail, including a curse word, to one of my most conservative friends. Who will think I'm going to hell for using a curse word. Oh joy. I can only hope she will not lecture me. Or, maybe she will realize the e-mail is not for her and not read it! Yeah, not likely.
I'm feeling brilliant. I really thought I was old enough and mature enough to not be so stupid anymore. When will that happen?

Not much to say
I really don't have anything huge to say. I realized that I haven't posted much this week, so thought I would just tell you what we have been doing!
We finally had a good week of school. The first good week since Christmas. Maybe life will get back on track here! Thursday was our 2nd born child's 7th birthday! We went to IHOP for breakfast and took a couple of her friends. My husband was even able to go with us!!! WOW. After dropping our oldest off at gymnastics, the rest of us made a very rare trip to the mall to get her ear's pierced. I got a picture of it Friday, so will try to post that later. It is amazing how rarely we go to the mall. I would say 2 times a year is about average. Friday was nice outside, so I took the kids hiking in the afternoon. It was really nice. Our youngest needed to be carried in the backpack some, so I had a pretty bad backache later in the evening. Friday night we did her birthday dinner with another family. I always let my kids choose their birthday dinner. She chose turkey, WHITE rice and broccoli (we rarely have white rice, so it truly is a treat). She wanted apple pie for dessert! Not cake!
Yesterday our oldest had another gymnastics competition. She did much better than she did at her last meet. Although she was still disappointed that she didn't get a medal. :-) After her meet, we went over to my brother-in-law's house for dinner.
So, that's it. Our week. Not very exciting. I'm napping every day and pretty nauseated. That just means I'm not spending a huge amount of time thinking about "big" things. :-)
Hope you all have a great week next week! My husband has Monday off!!! Yippee!

News
All right, some of you know this already, but I'm finally willing to broadcast this. I guess.
Remember a while back I mentioned we supposedly prevent pregnancy and are not quiverful mentality people? So, here's the long version of that comment. We planned to get pregnant with daughter #1. Pregnancy #2 was very unplanned and I miscarried. Pregnancy #3 was planned and resulted in daughter #2. Pregnancy #4 was very unplanned and I miscarried again. Pregnancy #5 was sort of planned, yet we were still surprised and resulted in son #1. Pregnancy #6 was not planned AT ALL and shocked us both and resulted in son #2. Are you getting the picture here? Pregnancy #7 - yep, pregnant again - I'm 9 weeks along, totally unplanned. Looks like we won't miscarry, if nausea around the clock and extreme exhaustion are any clue. So, 7 pregnancies, 2 really planned, one sort of planned and 4 not planned at all - well, yes God plans them all.
So, there it is! I'm a little shocked at the thought of 5 kids. I was very content with 1! :-) Then the unplanned pregnancy and miscarriage and I figured 2 would be nice. Then another unplanned and miscarriage and we just didn't decide what to do and had #3. It had taken us months after the first miscarriage to get pregnant again, so I just (foolishly) thought it would take months again. Not so! Needless to say, I never wanted a large family, never set out to have a large family and here we are. I also never wanted to homeschool. Isn't it amazing what God can change in us? Well, I'm still not convinced about the large family thing, but I know I'll be fine eventually.

Tag 123
I have been tagged by Kari! My first tag. Thank you Kari. :-) It is "tag 123". The rules are:
Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more
Find page 123
Find the first five sentences
Post the next three sentences
Tag five people
Just like Kari, it is hard to determine which book is closest, as I sit at a desk with a bookshelf on either side and books all in front of me! But, there are two sitting right next to me, so I will grab one. It is "The Power of the Powerless" by Henri J.M. Nouwen. Amazing book, everyone should read it. Here are my 3 sentences:
"There is a need to be unlocked. We all need to be unlocked. It is a question of who has the key." I'm adding the next sentence - "Paul had the key."
I have oh so many people to choose from :-), so I tag: Ranee, Tricia, Melissa, Daniel and Claire.
